Dwight Sutton was named an assistant football coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College in December of 2018. He will serve as the program's defensive backs coach and special team coordinator.Â
Sutton comes to Wesleyan after three season at Lindsey Wilson as the safeties coach. The Blue Raiders posted a record of 29-6 over the past three seasons with playoff appearances in 2016 and 2017. It was Sutton's second stint with the Blue Raiders, previous serving as cornerbacks coach from 2011-2013.
In between his tenure at Lindsey Wilson, Sutton spent the 2014 and 2015 season as the cornerbacks coach at Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels won 15 games against nine losses in those two seasons.Â
Sutton, a native of Bradenton, Florida,, he served a year at Malone (Ohio) where he worked with the cornerbacks and special teams.
As a student-athlete, Sutton played at Muskingum (Ohio) where he was a three-year starter at wide receiver. He concluded his career at Muskingum ranked seventh on the program’s career receiving yards list. During his senior season, Sutton was named the team’s offensive most valuable player.
Sutton graduated from Muskingum in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in physical education. He completed a Master’s degree in athletic administration from Western Kentucky in 2013.
