OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan Football (0-3, 0-1 G-MAC) fell to #9 Findlay (3-0, 1-0) 0-64 Saturday morning inside Steele Stadium to open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Kentucky Wesleyan finished with 141 yards of total offense, including 119 through the air and 22 on the ground.
Mason Griffin completed 16 of 26 passes for 115 yards, while
Dominick Hollis led the Panthers on the ground with 11 yards on seven carries.
Josh Noble led Kentucky Wesleyan defensively with eight total tackles, followed by
Kenneth Joshua with seven.
Findlay established control early and never let Kentucky Wesleyan find its footing, scoring on its opening possession and converting a two-point attempt before adding another touchdown later in the first quarter to take a 15-0 lead.
The Oilers continued to pull away in the second quarter, scoring four times to take a 43-0 advantage into halftime. Findlay quarterback Chase Harrison connected with Julian Johnson for a 6-yard touchdown early in the quarter before Andrew Leonard added a 10-yard rushing score less than two minutes later.
Harrison then found Cameron Wright for a second touchdown connection, this time from 27 yards, before Jordan Mathews capped the half with a 1-yard rushing touchdown with 47 seconds remaining.
Findlay added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, with Harrison connecting with Evan Wilkens for an 8-yard score before Dominic Bennett scored from three yards out. Mathews added his second rushing touchdown of the game, a 25-yard run with 7:51 remaining in the fourth quarter, to complete the scoring.
