Box Score 1 Columbus, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team was defeated 10-2 by Ohio Dominican on the road Thursday afternoon.
The Panthers (3-21, 0-7 G-MAC) got off to a strong start in the top of the first. Bailey Markus was hit by a pitch to lead off the game, and later in the frame, Kennedy Matheis launched her third home run of the campaign to put Wesleyan up 2-0.
From there, it was all Ohio Dominican (14-13, 5-0 G-MAC). The home team scored one run in the first, two in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the sixth in their six-inning triumph.
Lauren Pellerito had her best game of the season with a team-high two hits. Besides her and Matheis, Abby Cunningham had the only other hit for KWC on the day with a double.
Each of Riley Cunningham, Matheis, and Hannah Beasley worked walks in the Wesleyan effort.
Due to injury, the Panthers could not field a team for game two and were forced to forfeit.
