KWC Falls to Saints in Midweek Doubleheader at Foster Field

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team (3-28, 0-14 G-MAC) fell in both games of their doubleheader versus rival Thomas More on Wednesday at Foster Field.

Game one was a low scoring battle through four innings as starting pitcher Riley Cunningham held the Saints at bay. Thomas More broke the game open with four runs in the fifth and added four more runs in the sixth to trigger the run rule.

The Panthers were held to just two hits, each by center fielder Chloe Apple. Hannah Beasley worked a walk and Cunningham was hit by a pitch to account for Wesleyan's only other baserunners.

The Saints (19-23, 6-10 G-MAC) jumped out to a big lead in game two with a five-run first inning and never looked back. TMU plated two more runs in the second, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth on their way to another run-rule triumph.

The Panthers were held to just one hit in the second game, a single by Kennedy Matheis. The catcher was also KWC's only baserunner.

In the field, Beasley had an impressive double play on a line drive shot at third base in which she was able to throw out the baserunner at first.

Wesleyan next heads on the road for a doubleheader versus Northwood at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17th. Both games will be streamed live on FloCollege.
