ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's tennis team narrowly fell to Principia by the score of 4-3 Friday evening inside the Hexberg Tennis Center.
Principia claimed the doubles point by winning Courts 1 and 2. On Court 3, Baylie McCreary and Sara Osorio teamed up for a hard-fought 7-6 (9-7) victory.
In singles, Anna Bongardt earned a 6-2, 7-6 triumph on Court 2, Ella Brown won 6-1, 6-7, 10-2, and Baylie McCreary finished off a 6-2, 7-6 victory on Court 5 to put the Panthers on the precipice of the match win.
The match was ultimately decided on Courts 3 and 6. On Court 3, after falling 6-0 in the first set, Angela Ho fought back by winning the second set 7-6 to force a tiebreaker. The junior then narrowly lost that tiebreaker 10-8. On Court 6, Sara Osorio led 6-2, 1-4 before she was forced to retire due to injury.
The Panthers are next set to head home from their spring break trip for a match versus Franklin tomorrow, Sunday, March 8th. The match will begin at 2:00 PM at Moreland Park.
