OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader against Walsh University. The Cavaliers shut-out the Panthers in the opener and took game two 11-2. The series marked the first home games at Foster Field this season.
In the first game of the series, the Cavaliers scored two in the first, three runs in the second, and busted the game open with five runs in the third. Leadoff hitter
Bailey Markus finished the game one for two with a walk while
Kennedy Matheis was also one for two.
In game two, Walsh got out to a 4-0 lead after three innings. In the top of the fifth, they added three more runs to build a comfortable cushion.
Chloe Apple led-off the seventh with a single and moved to third on Matheis' double.
Paige Crain drove in a run with a sacrifice fly while
Abby Cunningham drove-in Matheis with an RBI single later in the frame.
Abby Cunningham was three for four with an RBI.
Riley Cunningham pitched both games and finished game two one for two with a double at the plate.
The Panthers will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Friday to open a series against Ohio Dominican University. First pitch is scheduled for 1PM.
