G-MAC Basketball Quarterfinals Preview

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's basketball teams are set to play in the quarterfinal round of their respective Great Midwest Championship tournaments on Tuesday, March 3rd.

Women's Basketball
The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team (15-11, 11-9 G-MAC) earned the No. 7 seed and is headed to Canton, Ohio, for a matchup versus No. 2-seeded Malone at 4:30 PM. The Panthers split their two meetings against the Pioneers this season, with both teams winning inside their own home arenas.

Wesleyan is headed into postseason play with momentum after their thrilling 78-75 overtime victory over rival Thomas More on Saturday. Emma Bruwer racked up 33 points in that game, the most in a single game for a KWC women's basketball athlete in at least the last 15 years.

The Pioneers (23-5, 16-4 G-MAC) are led by senior Erin Kaufman, who is averaging 16.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 2025-26. Her points per game average currently sits as the fourth highest in the conference.

Men's Basketball
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team (16-12, 10-10) also earned the No. 7 seed and is traveling to Painesville, Ohio, to battle No. 2-seeded Lake Erie at 6:00 PM. Wesleyan played the Storm just once this season, a narrow 82-77 loss on the road back in early January.

These Panthers are also headed into March with momentum after downing rival Thomas More in a convincing 82-75 triumph on Saturday. Each of Ke'Andre Jones, Fatih Huyuk, and Jorge Sanchez-Ramos had 16+ points in the win.

Lake Erie (21-7, 15-5 G-MAC) is led by junior Amari Williams, who posted averages of 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.4 steals this year. The Storm have three other double-digit scorers as well: Gavin Welch (11.8), Gio Moore (11.3), and Kai Bloom (11.0).
