OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's tennis team was downed 4-0 by Tennessee Southern Saturday afternoon inside Centre Court.
The Panthers fell short in the doubles point matches to start the day. Both duos of Ella Brown/Kameron Knight and Baylie McCreary/Sara Osorio were defeated 6-2. The pair of Anna Bongardt and Angela Ho also fell in a tight set, 7-5.
With the two teams playing to clinch, the Firehawks only had to win three singles matches. Brown was defeated 7-5, 6-3, McCreary was downed 6-2, 6-1, and Bongardt fell 7-5, 6-2.
Although her match technically didn't count due to UTS already having four points, Osorio prevailed 6-0, 6-1 to highlight the Panthers' effort. Knight also led 7-6, 2-0 when the overall match was called.
Wesleyan has a couple weeks off from match play before taking on crosstown rival Brescia on February 21st. Play is set to begin at 11:00 AM.
