This Week in Wesleyan Athletics

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Below is a preview of Wesleyan Athletics for the week of February 16-22.

Men's Golf
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team is in Saint Leo, Florida, for their first event of the spring. The Panthers are competing in the Saint Leo Invitational today and tomorrow, squaring off against six of the nation's top 25 teams. Jonathan Kaminski, Ben Carter, Ryan Loiars, Braydon Bond, and Thomas Scott were the five starters for Wesleyan this morning.

Women's Basketball
The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team is looking to bounce back with two games on the road this week. Wesleyan will battle Hillsdale on Thursday at 4:30 PM and Northwood on Saturday at 12:00 PM. Fans can watch both games live on FloCollege.

Riley Neal continued her strong play last week, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in those two games.

Men's Basketball
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team split their two games last week, defeating Malone on Thursday before falling to #22 Walsh on Saturday. This week, the Panthers will visit Hillsdale on Thursday at 6:30 PM and Northwood on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Both games will be streamed live on FloCollege and fans can listen on 94.3 WBIO.

Jorge Sanchez-Ramos had another stellar stretch with averages of 16.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds with just two turnovers across those two games. Armandas Plintauskas impressed as well with averages of 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

Tennis
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams are set to play twice on Saturday, first versus crosstown rival Brescia at 11:00 AM before battling Earlham at 4:00 PM inside Centre Court.

In the last action for either program, the men's team narrowly fell to Tennessee Southern 4-3. The Panthers won the doubles point before Jose Ferrandis and Adryan Taylor both picked up singles wins.

Baseball
The Kentucky Wesleyan baseball team took three of four games against Davis & Elkins to open their home campaign last weekend. The Panthers now turn their focus to a three-game set this weekend versus Southwest Baptist at Panther Park. Wesleyan will play the first of those three on Friday at 12:00 PM before hosting a doubleheader on Saturday at the same time. All games will be streamed live on FloCollege.

Liam Hutson had a monster home-opening series for the Panthers, going a combined 7-14 with a double, two home runs, 10 RBIs, three walks, and six runs scored. The sophomore hit a grand slam in game three and went 5-5 in game four, including the walk-off double.
