OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan men's tennis standouts
Illia Dobrovolsky and
Cameron Middleton have earned an at-large bid to the inaugural ITA Division II Singles & Doubles National Championships, securing a spot among the top 32 doubles teams in the country.
The Panthers' duo will compete November 4-8 at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, earning the opportunity to represent Kentucky Wesleyan on the national stage.
Dobrovolsky and Middleton have enjoyed a strong fall campaign, highlighted by their performance at the ITA Division II Midwest Regional Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The pair advanced to the Flight A Doubles semifinals, earning victories over the tournament's No. 1 seeds from Wayne State and No. 8 seeds from McKendree by identical 8-6 scores.
Their run through the regional draw showcased their ability to compete against some of the top doubles teams in the region and helped propel them into national championship contention.
The 2026 championships mark the inaugural year of the ITA Division II Singles & Doubles National Championships, expanding national championship opportunities for Division II student-athletes. As the only NCAA division without an NCAA-sponsored individual singles and doubles championship, Division II will now have an additional opportunity to crown individual national champions during the fall season.
Hosted in partnership with Visit Tuscaloosa, the five-day championship will bring together top singles players and doubles teams from across Division II, with Dobrovolsky and Middleton representing the Panthers in the doubles field.
Kentucky Wesleyan will look to carry its fall momentum into Tuscaloosa as the duo competes for a national championship November 4-8.
