CANTON, Ohio – Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer (4-3-1, 3-2-1 G-MAC) earned a 0-0 draw at Malone (2-6-0, 1-5-0 G-MAC) Thursday night. Despite 16 shots on goal and eight corner kicks, the Panthers failed to find the go-ahead goal against a stubborn Pioneer team.
Kentucky Wesleyan controlled much of the offensive pressure throughout the match, recording seven shots in the opening half and nine more after halftime.
Jersey Lopez led the Panthers with seven shots, including four on goal, while
Carter Ford added three attempts.
Malone goalkeeper Roman Sigafoos kept the Panthers off the scoreboard with six saves, including three in each half. He made two saves on Lopez in the first half and turned away additional chances from
Jhaeem Bryan and
Filip Ksiadz.
Kentucky Wesleyan goalkeeper
Matteo Graniero also kept a clean sheet, making one save as the Panthers' defense limited Malone to one shot on goal.
The Panthers had a final opportunity to break the deadlock in the 80th minute when Lopez stepped to the spot for a penalty kick. Sigafoos made the save, however, preserving the scoreless match.
Kentucky Wesleyan continued to pressure late, with Ksiadz forcing another save in the 83rd minute and Lopez putting a final shot wide in the closing minutes.
