MIDLAND, Mich. – Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer (0-11-3, 0-7-3 G-MAC) put together its highest-scoring performance of the season Thursday evening, finding the net three times in a 6-3 loss to Northwood (7-6-1, 6-3-1 G-MAC) at Dean Soccer Field.
The Panthers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as
Marley Collins cut through the defense and struck in the fifth minute to give Kentucky Wesleyan an early lead. Northwood answered with three goals of its own to swing the momentum, but the Panthers responded when
Haylie Panter finished a pass from
Haley Osborne in the 21st minute. Northwood added another goal shortly after, sending Kentucky Wesleyan into halftime trailing 4-2 in an action-packed opening half.
The scoring continued after the break, with Northwood extending its lead in the 50th minute. Kentucky Wesleyan refused to go quietly, as Panter struck again with a header in the 59th minute off an assist from
Addison Boor to complete her brace and pull the Panthers back within two at 5-3. The Panthers continued to push forward in search of another goal, but Northwood added its sixth in the 86th minute to close out the match.
Panter's two goals and Collins' early strike gave Kentucky Wesleyan three goals in a game for the first time this season.
Abby Payne made two saves in the first half before
Caleigh Meeks added one save after the break. The Panthers finished with 14 shots, including nine on target, matching Northwood's nine shots on goal.
