CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team (11-6, 7-4 G-MAC) was downed 67-50 by one of the top teams in the conference, Thomas More, on Thursday.
The two teams worked to an early 8-8 tie with just two minutes to go in the first quarter, headlined by threes from Carson Sisk and Ricky Kapteijn. The Saints (15-2, 7-2 G-MAC) created some distance with an 8-2 run to close the frame and took a 16-10 lead into the second.
The game spiraled out of control for the Panthers the rest of the way. Thomas More won the second period 24-10 to build a 40-20 advantage at halftime.
Wesleyan's deficit stayed around 20 the rest of the way as KWC never got closer than 15 in the second half in the 67-50 loss.
Georgia Acompanado led the way with 12 points and continued to impress defensively with two steals and two blocks. Lily Hoagland added seven points, two rebounds, and two assists in just 14 minutes.
The Panthers are back home this coming Saturday, January 24th, for a matchup versus Cedarville. Tipoff is set for 10:00 AM and the game will be played on campus inside the Woodward Health and Recreation Center. The action will also be streamed live on FloCollege.
