Springfield, Ill. – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team suffered two defeats at the Illinois Springfield Invitational on Saturday.
Wesleyan (0-3) fell in matchups versus Illinois Springfield and Roosevelt. The Panthers did earn a set win against the latter but couldn't turn that momentum into a victory.
KWC played host UIS tough in the first game of the day, ultimately falling 19-25, 18-25, 17-25.
Hadley Wolfe led the way with nine kills and four blocks in that match. Ana De-Sevilla Acosta tallied 12 assists, Juliana Greaney earned eight assists, and freshman Emily Goering logged six kills and a team-high 11 digs.
In the second match of the day, Wesleyan was defeated by Roosevelt 25-19, 21-25, 16-25, 16-25.
Wolfe again shined with 12 kills and five blocks. Goering continued her strong play as well, recording nine kills. Sevilla-Acosta registered 21 assists, two aces, and nine digs.
The Panthers next head to the UC-WVSU Crossover in Charleston, West Virginia, for four matches across both September 12 and 13.
