Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer team fell by the score of 1-0 in their season opener against West Alabama Thursday night at Panther Field.
The Tigers' Bailee Fairley scored the game's lone goal in the 9th minute, securing the victory for the road team.
Wesleyan, even with the loss, can certainly build off their play on Wednesday. The Panthers recorded more shots than UWA (8 to 7), earned more corner kicks (7 to 2), and had less fouls (11-7), showing strong play behind a raucous student crowd.
Haley Osborne led the way with two shots on goal, and the trio of Marley Collins, Haylie Panter, and Emma Fields each recorded one.
The Panthers are right back to it tomorrow, Friday, September 5th for another non-conference matchup. Wesleyan will battle the Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield, with kickoff set for 7:00 PM at Panther Field.
