OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team embarked on a new season on Saturday night as they opened Jones Gymnasium for their first home match of the 2025 season. The Panthers were also playing in the opening match of the Great Midwest slate. Wesleyan fell in four sets (25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13) to Thomas More University.
The Panthers (1-7, 0-1 G-MAC) played the Saints (4-3, 1-0 G-MAC) even throughout the majority of the opening set, but fell 25-19. In the second set, errors plagued the Saints as the Panthers raced out to a 15-10 lead. The Saints tried to narrow the game and puled even at 22, but Wesleyan was too strong as back-to-back kills from
Emmy Goering evened the match.
The momentum continued for the Panthers in the third set as they built a 10-5 lead. The Saints stopped the Wesleyan run with four straight points. The Panthers edged ahead 18-17, but five straight points by the Saints sunk the Panthers 25-20.

Ana De Sevilla-Acosta dished out 15 assists.
Gracie Newton added eight kills.
