PAINSVILLE, OH. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday evening. The Panthers, playing in their first road contest of the year opened Great Midwest play with a 2-0 loss to Lake Erie College. 
 
The rematch of the G-MAC quarterfinals of 2024, a match in which the Panthers won in penalty kicks, did not live up to the same dramatics. The Storm scored in the 20^th minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead. Mattie McNally looked to tie the match just two minutes later, but his shot missed left. 
 
Off his own rebound Dario Stadler scored the second goal of the match in the 32^nd minute. Hannes Gronevik looked to cut the deficit in half in the 39^th minute but his shot sailed over the LEC net. The Strom held a 2-0 lead into intermission. 
 
Lake Erie had the opportunity to pack in their defense and run out the clock in the second half, maintaining their 2-0 advantage. McNally took two shots, one on goal. Jersey Lopez also had a shot on goal. 
 
The Panthers will be in Findlay, Ohio on Saturday for a match-up against the Oilers. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 PM CT.
