Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer team was defeated by Lake Erie to open conference play Thursday afternoon.
Even with the loss, the Panthers still lead the series 5-2-1 all time.
The Storm (3-1-0) scored in the ninth minute of the match and never looked back, adding goals in the 44th, 53rd, and 79th minutes.
Wesleyan (0-4-1) earned a strong number of shot opportunities. Steeley Walker and Haylie Panter each recorded three, with the latter tallying one of Wesleyan's two shots on goal. Haley Osborne and Sierra Mullins each logged two shots, including the other Panthers' shot on goal by Mullins.
The Panthers will look to bounce back this Saturday, September 20, in Findlay, Ohio, against the Oilers. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.
