Tiffin, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team fell in both games of their doubleheader at Tiffin on Monday afternoon.
Tiffin, the top team in the G-MAC so far this season, took Game 1 by the score of 16-0 in five innings, tallying three runs in the second, five in the third, and eight in the fourth.
The Panthers made some noise in Game 2. After the Dragons took a 1-0 lead in the second, Wesleyan had a quick response in the top of the third.
Lauren Pellerito worked a walk, Augusta Garr followed with a single, and Cam Mann worked her own walk to load the bases with just one out. Lexie Onyett came through next with a sacrifice fly that scored Pellerito, Chloe Apple followed with a single to drive in Augusta Garr, and Guinny Garr notched her own single to score Mann and give the Panthers a 3-1 lead.
Wesleyan held that lead until the bottom of the fifth, in which Tiffin tacked on four runs to steal the advantage back at 5-3. The Panthers were unable to put together any additional runs, ultimately falling 8-3.
Kentucky Wesleyan returns to Foster Field this Wednesday, April 9, for an out-of-conference doubleheader vs. Trevecca Nazarene beginning at 1:00 PM. Both games will be available to stream live on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
