Panthers Split Battle vs. Lake Erie

Painesville, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team prevailed in Game 1 before falling just short in Game 2 of their doubleheader at Lake Erie on Friday afternoon.

Lake Erie got the scoring started in Game 1, generating one run in the second and tacking on another run in the third to take an early 2-0 lead.

Immi Mann (W, 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 4 SO) kept the Panthers in the game while the bats were warming up.

Later, in the top of the fifth, Grace Colvin led off with a single, Hannah Beasley followed with her own single, and AJ Middleton reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Augusta Garr came up next and drove in the Panthers first run on an RBI groundout before Cam Mann hit a sacrifice fly that scored Beasley and tied the game at 2-2.

In Wesleyan's very next turn at the plate, the offensive momentum carried over. Guinny Garr singled and Immi Mann followed with a home run, her third of the season, to put the Panthers on top 4-2.

Mann shut the door on the Storm the rest of the way, leading Wesleyan to their eighth win of the 2025 campaign.

Game 2 was another close battle, but this time the Panthers got on the board first. Lexie Onyett doubled and Immi Mann singled to drive in Onyett and put Wesleyan in front 1-0 after the first frame.

The Storm responded in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs to steal the advantage at 2-1.

Lexie Onyett continued her strong day in the third, launching her third home run of the season to tie the game at 2-2, but the Storm didn't let that last long as the home team added another run in the bottom half to take the lead back at 3-2.

Later, in the top of the fifth, Augusta Garr singled and stole second to set up the hot-hitting Onyett. The freshman came through with an RBI single to drive in Garr and again tie the game, this time at 3-3.

In déjà vu fashion, the Storm again responded with a one in the bottom of the fifth after a leadoff triple. The Panthers couldn't scratch another run across, ultimately falling 4-3.

Wesleyan returns to the playing field tomorrow, Saturday, April 19, for a doubleheader at Ursuline in Pepper Pike, Ohio, beginning at 11:00 AM.
