Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team dropped both games of their doubleheader vs. Hillsdale on Sunday afternoon at Foster Field.
The Chargers got on the board first in Game 1, using a single and a stolen base to take a 1-0 lead.
From there, the scoring was quiet until the bottom of the third frame. Lauren Pellerito worked a walk, Augusta Gar singled to center, and Lexie Onyett delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. Chloe Apple came up next and did the same as Onyett, driving in Garr to put the Panthers on top 2-1.
Grace Colvin had a strong day on the mound, giving Wesleyan a chance at a victory with 4.0 innings pitched and just one earned run.
Immi Mann relieved Colvin and maintained that 2-1 advantage headed into the top of the seventh, but the Panthers' fortunes turned in Hillsdale's last turn at the plate. The Chargers used a two-out rally to score three runs, grabbing a 4-2 lead that would end up being the final score of Game 1.
Game 2 was all Hillsdale, with the Chargers scoring one run in the first, two in the second, one in the third, and two in the fifth as Wesleyan fell 6-0.
Cam Mann, Immi Mann, Guinny Garr, and Riley Hall each had a hit in the Panthers' effort.
The Panthers next go on their final road trip of the regular season, beginning with a doubleheader at Lake Erie on April 18th at 2:00 PM. Both games will be live on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
