Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team split two with Northwood on Saturday afternoon at Foster Field.
In Game 1, Immi Mann (7.0 IP, 0 R, 3 SO) continued her recent strong play on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout in the victory.
Mann also helped her cause offensively, scoring the game's only run after tripling and getting driven home by an Augusta Garr RBI single in the second inning.
That was all the Panthers would need. The Timberwolves threatened in the fifth and sixth frames, but Mann shut the door and the Panthers turned three double plays in the game to solidify the 1-0 victory.
Northwood's offense couldn't be contained in the second game of the afternoon. The Timberwolves tacked on three runs in the first, one in the second, three in the third, and four in the fifth.
Wesleyan managed to score their only run in the fourth, as Lexie Onyett tripled and later scored in the eventual 11-1 loss.
The Panthers are back on the diamond tomorrow, Sunday, April 13, for a doubleheader vs. Hillsdale at Foster Field beginning at 12:00 PM.
