Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team split their Tuesday afternoon doubleheader vs. Ohio Dominican at Foster Field, falling in Game 1 but triumphing in Game 2.
Ohio Dominican got off to fast start in the first game of the afternoon, using three singles and a double to tally three runs in the top of the first.
Wesleyan responded with a run of their own in the bottom half. Gus Garr reached on an error to begin the inning, Cam Mann singled, and Chloe Apple followed with a single of her own to score Garr and cut the ODU advantage to 3-1.
That was the only run the Wesleyan offense could put together. Ohio Dominican (15-19, 5-3 G-MAC) added a run in each of the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings on their way to downing Wesleyan 6-1.
Luckily, the Panthers had Immi Mann on the mound for Game 2. The Panthers scored one run in the bottom half of the first after Cam Mann doubled and Apple drove her home, and that was all the support Immi Mann would need.
The senior starting pitcher threw a complete game shutout with a final line of 7.0 IP, five hits, and zero runs allowed to lead Wesleyan (5-24, 1-9 G-MAC) to the 1-0 victory, their first conference win of the 2025 campaign.
Wesleyan is right back on the diamond tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2 for an out-of-conference doubleheader at Bethel in McKenzie, Tennessee. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
