North Canton, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team fell against the Walsh Cavaliers in two low-scoring affairs on Sunday afternoon.
Walsh scored the afternoon's first run in the bottom of the first inning of Game 1, the only run through the opening three and a half innings of the game. Panthers starter Immi Mann had a strong day on the mound with six innings pitched and just two earned runs while adding three strikeouts.
Later, in the bottom of the fourth, the Cavaliers used a couple singles and an error to add two more runs to their tally and make the score 3-0.
After the first two outs in the Panthers' next turn at the plate, Augusta Garr sparked the offense with a single and Cam Mann followed with a double to score Garr and put Wesleyan on the board at 3-1.
That was about all the offense left from either team, as Walsh added just one run in the bottom of the sixth and prevailed 4-1 in Game 1.
Cam Mann led the way offensively with a season-high three hits and the lone RBI.
In the second game of the afternoon, Wesleyan starter Immi Mann again had a strong day with a near-identical line of six innings pitched, two earned runs, and three strikeouts to hold the Cavaliers at bay, but the Panthers' offense just could not get going in the 3-0 defeat.
Augusta Garr, Kennedy Matheis, and Lauren Pellerito each had a hit in the effort.
The Panthers return home next weekend for two doubleheaders as G-MAC play continues. Wesleyan will battle Ashland at 12:00/2:00 PM on Saturday, March 29 before playing host to Ohio Dominican at 12:00/2:00 PM on Sunday, March 30.
