Crestview Hills, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team fell 87-59 to Thomas More in their regular season finale Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers moved to 15-10 overall and 11-9 in the G-MAC, while the Saints improved to 11-17 overall and 8-12 in the G-MAC.
Thomas More had a strong first quarter, leading 24-15 after the first ten minutes and setting the tone for the rest of the game. Shiya Hoosier had seven points in the period to keep the Panthers in striking distance.
The game got away from Wesleyan in the second quarter, as the Saints controlled the period very similarly to the first and built a 48-31 lead at the half.
The home team continued to have their way in the second half, with the Panthers unable to claw their way back into the battle. The Saints finished the impressive effort with a 15-6 fourth quarter, putting the finishing touches on the 87-59 triumph.
Sydnee Richetto, Shiya Hoosier, and Riley Neal were the three double-digit scorers for Wesleyan. Richetto tallied 14 points and hit two three-pointers, Hoosier put up 11 points and three rebounds, and Neal recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
The Panthers now turn their attention to the G-MAC Championship Tournament, looking to make a run as the 6-seed. Wesleyan opens postseason play on the road at No. 3-seeded Malone on Tuesday, March 4 at 4:30 PM. The action will be live on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
