CANTON, OH. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team saw their season come to end on Tuesday evening in the Great Midwest Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The Panthers suffered a 69-40 loss to the Malone University. The Pioneers hosted after earning the third place in the league this season. Malone will move on to Ashland, Ohio for the G-MAC semifinals on Friday.
The Panthers scored the first six points of the game.
Sydnee Richetto hit a three-pointer to open the game while
Shiya Hoosier got to the rim and converted a three-point play moments later. The Pioneers found their stride, outscoring Wesleyan 15-5 to end the first quarter and went into the locker room with a 31-20 lead.
Malone hit nearly 50% of their shots in the first half to the Panthers 25%. The Pioneers carried their momentum into the second half, increasing their lead to 13 points after three (47-34). The fourth quarter was all Malone as they outscored Wesleyan 22-6 in the final frame.
The Panthers finish the 24-25 campaign 15-11 overall while the Pioneers advance to 22-7 before the G-MAC semifinals. Richetto finished the game with 18 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
Arielle Dabu pulled-in a team best five rebounds.
