Lebanon, Ill. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team dropped both games of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against McKendree.
The Bearcats went to work early in the bottom of the first, tacking on four runs in what was a preview of the next four innings. After McKendree added another in the fourth, Wesleyan got on the board in the top of the fifth as Lexie Onyett doubled to drive in Cam Mann and make the score 5-1.
McKendree wasted no time with their response, getting four more to cross the plate in the bottom half of the fifth to force the run rule at 9-1.
In the second game of the afternoon, the Panthers struck first on another Onyett RBI, this time a single to score Augusta Garr. Unfortunately, that would be the only run to cross for Wesleyan, as the Bearcats scored two in the third and two in the fifth on their way to the 4-1 victory.
The Panthers are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 2 against Missouri – St. Louis on the road. The first game of the doubleheader is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
