Albertville, Ala. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team fell 4-0 to Montevallo in their opening game of the 2025 season at the Charger Chillout.

It was a clean first couple innings for both, but the Falcons got to Panthers starter Immi Mann (6.0 IP, 3 ER) in the third frame after Wesleyan couldn't drive in Cam Mann following her triple. A single, a walk, and an eventual sacrifice fly scored the first run of the game, but Mann controlled the damage and held Montevallo to just one run in the inning.

Wesleyan earned a couple hits in the top of the fourth, but couldn't drive any in. The Falcons took advantage, tallying three more runs thanks to a couple errors by the Panthers defense to take a 4-0 lead after four frames.

It was a quick final three innings, as both teams couldn't get any runners in scoring position. In Wesleyan's final frame at the plate, Augusta Garr earned a single with one out to set up the bulk of the order, but the Panthers couldn't make a dent in the tally.

Wesleyan had more hits in the game (5 to 2) but couldn't get the crucial knock when it mattered. Garr had a single and a walk, and Cam Mann had the lone extra-base hit for the Panthers with the third-inning triple.

Wesleyan is back on the diamond tomorrow, February 8, for two more games as part of the Charger Chillout. The Panthers will first take on Christian Brothers at 11 AM, then follow with a battle vs. Mississippi College at 1:30 PM.
