Wesleyan Basketball Begins Final Homestand

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's basketball teams begin their final homestand of the season this week.

The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team plays a rare men-only game vs. Ashland on Thursday night (7:00 PM) before the doubleheaders resume on Saturday, with the two programs taking on Ohio Dominican on Senior Day (12:00/2:15 PM).

Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball (18-6, 12-4 G-MAC) is coming off a 1-1 road trip, having defeated Northwood 69-65 on Thursday night before falling 79-76 at Findlay on Saturday afternoon in the battle for the top spot in the conference.

It was a balanced effort in Thursday's win, as five players scored double digits in the defensive contest. Logan McIntire led the way in Saturday's effort, pouring in 20 points and shooting 6-11 from beyond the arc, and both Kennedy Miles and Edward Jones Jr. weren't far behind with 16 points each.

Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball (13-9, 9-8 G-MAC) also had a 1-1 week, but in reverse of the men, as the Panthers fell 73-63 at Northwood on Thursday before recording one of their biggest victories of the season in the 77-75 triumph over Findlay.

Against the Oilers, the Panthers had three players score 15+: Myah Montgomery (16 points, four three-pointers, five rebounds, two steals, and a blocked shot), Sydnee Richetto (15 points, three rebounds, two assists, 6-10 from the field), and Emma Bruwer (15 points, three three-pointers, seven rebounds, and four steals).

About Ashland Men's Basketball

Ashland men's basketball (14-9, 10-6 G-MAC) has tread in the middle of the pack all season. The Eagles are led by the most prolific scorer in the G-MAC conference in junior forward Maceo Williams, who is averaging 20.5 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting a staggering 66% from the field. The two teams met earlier this season in Ashland, with the Panthers prevailing 76-58 back on December 14.

About Ohio Dominican Basketball

Ohio Dominican men's basketball (9-15, 5-11 G-MAC) has lost five of their last six games, including an 0-2 stretch last week. Redshirt junior center Elijah Hinton has been one of the best paint presences in the conference, averaging 14.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Back on January 16 in Columbus, Wesleyan downed Ohio Dominican 91-71 in the teams' first matchup.

Ohio Dominican women's basketball (11-13, 6-10 G-MAC) is amidst a nice stretch, winning three of their last four games. ODU is headed by three veterans: junior Sarah Ochs (14.6 PPG, 4.0 RPG, & 2.9 APG), graduate student Gabby Stare (14.5 PPG & 4.3 RPG), and senior Brynn Mullet (13.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 56 three-pointers).

Again, both Wesleyan basketball programs will be celebrating Senior Day on Saturday, so be sure to be in your seats around 10-15 minutes before each game to catch the ceremonies.
