Harrogate, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team dropped both games on Friday as part of the Railsplitter Invitational.
Wesleyan, originally slated to play four games across Saturday and Sunday but now heading home due to inclement weather, fell 12-1 to Davis & Elkins and 7-0 to Wayne State.
In the first game of the morning, Davis & Elkins scored eight runs in the first frame and never looked back. Although the Panthers got on the board after Grace Colvin singled to drive in Kennedy Matheis, the Senators added two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to force the run rule.
In the following matchup against Wayne State, both teams went away quietly in the first couple innings before the Warriors put three runs up in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one more in the sixth as the Panthers failed to get one to cross the plate. Augusta Garr, Guinny Garr, and Lexie Onyett each recorded a hit in the effort.
Wesleyan now turns their attention to the Blue Bridge Battle, the 16-team event the Panthers are hosting at Deaconess Sports Park in Evansville, Indiana. The event will run from February 21-23, with details available here.
