Box Score HILLSDALE, MI – Kentucky Wesleyan (10-8, GMAC 6-7) lost 77-44 to one of the G-MAC's best squads, Hillsdale College (14-6, GMAC 11-2), on the road on Saturday.
Hillsdale began the game on an 11-0 run in front of the home crowd. Although, Wesleyan won the last five minutes of the opening quarter, as
Riley Neal and
Sydnee Richetto each hit threes to get the Panthers on the board. The Chargers led 18-10 after one.
Wesleyan scored five straight midway through the second quarter to cut the Hillsdale lead to 11.
Shiya Hoosier sunk a floater with just under a minute remaining in the first half as the Panthers trailed by 13 at halftime.
RIchetto hit another floater early in the third quarter to make it once again a 13-point game. Hillsdale charged on a 14-0 run before Neal stopped the bleeding with a triple.
Vilborg Jonsdottir converted an and-one, then made another bucket on the ensuing possession, all in the span of 30 seconds.
Freshmen
Asia Sawyers,
Carson Sisk, and
Emma Bruwer all made layups in the fourth but it was not enough to ignite a comeback.
Neal continued her strong play with nine points and seven rebounds. Jonsdottir finished with nine points as well.
Arielle Dabu added four boards and three assists.
Wesleyan will head home after a single-game road trip and take on Tiffin on Thursday, February 6
th at 5:30 p.m. for the final Thursday night game at the Sportscenter of the season.
