Panthers Cap Off 2025 With 83-38 Victory Over IU Southeast

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team defeated IU Southeast 83-68 on Wednesday afternoon inside Jones Gym.

Wesleyan dominated the first quarter, winning 22-8 to open the matchup. Six different Panthers hit threes in the frame, including Myah Montgomery's three-pointer in the waning seconds.

IUS showed fight in the second period, winning those ten minutes by three points. Riley Neal had four points in the quarter, all from the charity stripe.

The second half was all Panthers. KWC began the half on a 19-7 run to break the game wide open and build their advantage to 52-29. Both Iratxe Amorrortu Sainz and Ricky Kapteijn scored five points in the third quarter.

With Wesleyan up 59-31 headed in the fourth, the final ten minutes was a formality. Each of Lily Hoagland, Alexis Shehan, Samantha Shehan, and Hilary Shikuku scored in the final minutes, and Ella Finley added an assist and a rebound.

Sainz led the team with 15 points on 6-10 shooting while adding three rebounds and three assists.

Neal and Myah Montgomery joined her in double digits, with the former putting up 11 points, six rebounds, and two steals and the latter adding 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

Wesleyan has the next two days off before traveling to Pepper Pike, Ohio, to take on Ursuline at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 3. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
