Owensboro, Ky. – Five Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer student-athletes were recognized by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Thursday, as four earned All-Conference selections and one was honored for academic excellence.
Senior forward Haakon Torvbraaten and junior defender Jhaeem Bryan were named to the G-MAC Men's Soccer All-Conference First Team.
Torvbraaten, the head captain of the Panthers, has tallied four goals and nine assists for a team-high 17 points this season. The Norway native was named G-MAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week twice, including after Wesleyan's G-MAC Quarterfinals victory over Lake Erie in which he recorded assists on both goals in the match, and earned a game winner in Wesleyan's 2-1 triumph over Ohio Dominican earlier this month.
Bryan, a transfer in his first year with the team, has logged three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. He has played a major role in one of the best defenses in the conference and currently sits in second on the team in minutes with 1787, just one behind goalkeeper Iver Sjavag. Additionally, the Jamaica native registered a game winner in the Panthers' 2-1 victory over Walsh back in October.
Junior forward Braeden Myers-Curry and sophomore midfielder Jersey Lopez were named to the G-MAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team.
Myers-Curry leads the team in goals with six and shots on goal with 14 in 2025. Among Panthers with at least ten shots on the year, he also leads in shot-on-goal percentage at 67%. The Henderson, Kentucky, native recorded a game winner back in October in Wesleyan's 4-2 win against Northwood.
Lopez sits in second on the team in points with 14, having racked up three goals and eight assists on the year. The England native was awarded G-MAC Athlete of the Week in late October after scoring two goals and adding an assist to help the Panthers push their unbeaten streak to nine matches at that point. Like the three fellow conference honorees previously mentioned, Lopez also registered a game winner in Wesleyan's 1-0 victory over Thomas More in September.
Additionally, senior Kai Marchiony was honored with the prestigious G-MAC Men's Soccer Elite 26 award, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating in the G-MAC Championship tournament. Marchiony, a mathematics major, holds a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Earlier today, the Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team defeated Cedarville in the semifinal round of the Great Midwest Men's Soccer Championship tournament to advance to the G-MAC Championship game on Saturday, November 15, at 12:00 PM in Tiffin, Ohio, against the top-seeded Dragons.
