Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team (8-2-7, 8-2-3 G-MAC) extended their school-record unbeaten streak to 11 consecutive matches with their 2-1 triumph over Ohio Dominican (3-9-5, 3-6-4 G-MAC) Saturday evening at Panther Field.
Wesleyan didn't wait long to open the scoring. Jersey Lopez received the ball near midfield before delivering a nice pass to Cal Nolan on the right side of the box. That gave Nolan and Braeden Myers-Curry a 2-on-1 advantage, and the former assisted the latter for Myers-Curry's sixth goal of the season to put the Panthers up 1-0.
That score held going into the break. Coming out, it was ODU's turn to get on the board with a 62nd-minute goal that knotted up the tally at 1-1.
A little over six minutes later, a fitting scenario came to the forefront. Senior captain Haakon Torvbraaten, set to eventually break the program record in games played and started, received a free kick opportunity right outside the box. The Norway native took full advantage, netting his fourth goal of 2025 to put the Panthers on top for good.
Wesleyan led in shots (11-8) and shots on goal (6-5) in the match. Myers-Curry had three shots on goal, and Torbraaten, Hannes Gronevik and Cade Fenton each had one.
Before the match, the Panthers celebrated six seniors for Senior Day: Torvbraaten, Gronevik, Pavel Valchev, Nick Vincent, Ashton Todd, and Kai Marchiony.
Wesleyan has one more regular season match left, set to battle Thomas More on Tuesday, November 4 in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM and the match will be streamed live on FloCollege.
