Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team was defeated 18-25, 21-25, 23-25 by the Hillsdale Chargers inside Jones Gym Friday evening.
Hillsdale (4-6, 2-2 G-MAC) came out of the gates fast, using an 11-5 start to take home the first set 25-18.
Wesleyan (1-11, 0-5 G-MAC) returned the favor in the second set, sprinting out to a 12-5 lead thanks to two kills each by Emmy Goering, Kami Parlin, and Hadley Wolfe. The Chargers answered strongly, closing out the set on a 20-9 run to take a 2-0 advantage.
The third set was close the whole way, with neither team leading by more than three points. KWC led 23-22 after Ana De Sevilla-Acosta connected with Goering for a kill, but Hillsdale earned the next three points to put the match away.
Goering led the team in kills with ten, followed closely by Wolfe and Parlin with eight each. Sevilla-Acosta racked up 18 assists, and fellow setter Juliana Greaney tallied 13.
Maddie Hanshew totaled 15 digs and an ace on the night, while Parlin added eight digs and an ace. Wolfe and Havanah John had three blocks each.
The Panthers are back at it tomorrow, Saturday, October 4, against the Northwood Timberwolves as Homecoming weekend at Kentucky Wesleyan continues. First serve is set for 1:00 PM and the match will be streamed live on FloCollege.
