Panthers Move Back Above .500 With Convincing Win Over Lake Erie

Painesville, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team got back on the right track with an 85-55 triumph over Lake Erie on Thursday night, moving back above .500 for the year.

The Panthers improved to 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the G-MAC, while the Storm fell to 3-8 overall and 0-6 in the G-MAC.

Wesleyan had a fast start in Painesville, building a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. Sydney Richetto had eight points in the frame, including the first three-pointer of the night for the Panthers.

Richetto hit another three to kick off an early 9-0 second quarter run, putting Wesleyan in firm control at 30-16. Lena Stinebrickner added five points late in the period to push the Panthers' advantage to 42-24 at the half.

Wesleyan gradually increased their lead throughout the third quarter, capped off by an Arielle Dabu three pointer and a Riley Neal layup to put the road team up 30 at 71-41 going into the final frame.

The Panthers closed out the victory in the fourth, leading by as much as 35 points on their way to the 85-55 win.

Myah Montgomery was the leading scorer on the night, pouring in 20 points on top of six rebounds and two steals. Emma Bruwer set a new career-high with 15 points on 7-11 shooting to add to four rebounds and three assists off the bench, and Neal had another strong performance with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot.

Dabu and Richetto rounded out the double-digit scorers for Wesleyan, with the former totaling 13 points, seven rebounds, and a blocked shot and the latter logging 12 points and four assists.

The Panthers return to the court on Saturday, January 11 vs. Walsh in the second of four consecutive road games. The women are set to tip off at 12:00 PM, with the men to follow at 2:00 PM.
