Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team earned their ninth straight win with an 84-57 drubbing of Cedarville on Thursday night inside the Sportscenter.
Wesleyan moved to 9-2 (3-0 G-MAC) with the victory, sending the Yellow Jackets to 7-4 (2-2).
The Panthers got off to a fast start, as Fatih Huyuk scored the first two buckets of the night in the post followed by a Logan McIntire three-pointer. Cedarville continued battling, but a Terrence Ringo Jr. layup gave Wesleyan a 30-21 lead headed into the under-eight media timeout.
The Panthers slowly built the lead further, culminating in a three-pointer by Kennedy Miles that put the home team up 47-32 at the break.
A 12-2 run coming out of halftime, highlighted by three consecutive scores by Huyuk, gave Wesleyan their largest lead of the contest at 59-34. That advantage would largely remain to the end, with the Panthers still yet to lose a home game this season.
Edward Jones Jr. was the leading scorer on the night, recording a season-high 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Huyuk also registered season-highs with 14 points and 10 rebounds on top of three assists.
Both Miles and Quentin Toles did a little bit of everything, as the former had 12 points, five rebounds, and six assists and the latter logged 12 points, five rebounds, and nine assists.
McIntire and Ringo Jr. rounded out a total of seven double-digit scorers for the Panthers. McIntire totaled 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists, and Ringo Jr. added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Panthers are back in action this Saturday, January 4, for a matchup vs. Walsh inside the Sportscenter. Tipoff is set for 2:15 PM, with the women set to tip at 12:00 PM.
