Wesleyan Downs Cedarville to Complete Season Series Sweep

Cedarville, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team earned a 80-63 defeat of Cedarville on Saturday afternoon, completing a 2-0 season sweep of the Yellow Jackets.

The Panthers improved to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the G-MAC, while Cedarville fell to 8-8 overall and 3-6 in the G-MAC.

Wesleyan was hanging on to a 12-11 lead with just over 13 minutes to go before the Panthers reeled off a quick 8-0 run, highlighted by three-pointers from Logan McIntire and Alex Gray, to take a 20-11 advantage.

The Yellow Jackets began to slowly chip away for the rest of the half, coming within two at 24-22 before another run by Wesleyan. The road team closed the first half on a 15-3 run, sparked by two more three-pointers from McIntire, to build a 39-25 cushion at the break.

It was another strong second half for Wesleyan, never letting the Yellow Jackets within single digits. Cedarville got within 11 with over 16 minutes to play, but the Panthers combatted that quickly with an 11-4 run headlined by two Kennedy Miles threes to stretch their lead back to 57-39.

Wesleyan held a similar advantage the rest of the way, and a dunk by Quentin Toles capped off the 80-63 victory.

Toles logged a team-high 20 points on top of seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals while shooting 8-14 from the field. McIntire was right behind him with 18 points and nine rebounds on 7-10 shooting and 4-7 from outside the arc.

Miles and Edward Jones Jr. rounded out the double-digit scorers, with the former tallying 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and a steal and the latter recording 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, a blocked shot, and a steal.

Wesleyan is finally back home on Thursday, January 23 as the Panthers take on the Northwood Timberwolves. Tipoff is set for 7:45 PM inside the Sportscenter, with the women preceding at 5:30 PM.
