COLUMBUS, OH – The Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (8-5, GMAC 4-4) toppled the Ohio Dominican Panthers (6-10, GMAC 1-7) on Thursday evening, 75-60.
Sydnee Richetto dropped 15 points on a perfect shooting night (6-6 FG, 2-2 3PT). She is the second Panther to do so in the last two weeks (
Riley Neal – 23 points on 1/4/25).
After beginning the game down 5-1, Richetto drilled a three-pointer and
Arielle Dabu followed it up with a fast-break layup to take the lead.
Emma Bruwer made a three and then converted an and-one on the following possession. Richetto made her second triple of the game to tie it at 19-19 entering the second quarter.
Myah Montgomery got the quarter going with a layup in the paint.
Carson Sisk went off towards the end of the period, scoring ten points in less than three minutes to give Wesleyan a four-point lead. Ohio Dominican closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to go up 37-35 at the break.
Montgomery again started the quarter with a layup to tie the contest. Richetto and Dabu led a 7-0 run before ODU responded with a 7-0 run of their own. Dabu and Sisk each made triples to tie the game up entering the fourth.
It was all Purple Panthers from that point on. Wesleyan dominated the final quarter, outscoring Ohio Dominican 21-6. Montgomery (8) and Richetto (7) each outscored ODU alone in the quarter.
This was the best game of Sisk's young career, finishing with a career-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds. Montgomery scored 14 on the game. Dabu added 12 while dishing out a career-high six assists. Bruwer chipped in seven points.
Vilborg Jonsdottir and Neal each snagged eight rebounds.
Veteran guard
Shiya Hoosier was able to return to action tonight in limited minutes. This comes earlier than expected, as Hoosier suffered a knee injury against Ashland on December 14
th. This bodes well for the Panthers, as they will be getting their fifth-year senior leader back in action for the heart of their conference schedule.
Wesleyan will travel to Cedarville, OH for a Saturday match-up against the Yellow Jackets at 12:00 p.m.
