Columbus, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team got back in the win column with their 91-71 victory over Ohio Dominican on Thursday night in Columbus.
Wesleyan improved to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in the G-MAC, while Ohio Dominican fell to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the G-MAC.
The first half was full of back-and-forth action. Fatih Huyuk scored six of the first ten points to get things rolling for the Panthers, but the home team kept responding. In the final 10 minutes of the half, Kennedy Miles poured in nine points to push Wesleyan to a 42-37 advantage at the break.
Coming out, Wesleyan went on a 16-5 run, highlighted by three-pointers from Logan McIntire and Alex Gray, to build their lead to 58-42.
The Panthers didn't let off the gas from there, never leading by less than 12 the rest of the way. A Kaeveon Mitchell three-pointer gave Wesleyan their largest lead at 24 with just over a minute to play to cap off the 91-71 triumph.
Miles had a season-high and team-leading 24 points on 8-13 from the field and 4-8 from beyond the arc, adding four rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a blocked shot to his ledger. Quentin Toles poured in 17 points, a career-high 13 rebounds, and five assists to solidify an impressive night for the backcourt.
The other double-digit scorers included Edward Jones Jr. (15 points, four rebounds, and three assists), Huyuk (10 points on 5-8 shooting), and Alex Gray (10 points and six rebounds). Finally, Mitchell logged a season-high nine points and two three-pointers.
Wesleyan now turns their attention to the Cedarville Yellow Jackets this Saturday, January 18. Tipoff is set for 2:00 PM, with the women beforehand at 12:00 PM.
