Indianapolis, Ind. – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team was handed two losses to finish off the UIndy Invitational on Saturday.
The Panthers fall to 0-4 on the season, having been defeated in all four of their matches as part of the Invitational.
In the first match of the day, Wesleyan fell to No. 24 Grand Valley (3-0, 0-0 GLIAC) 15-25, 19-25, 10-25.
Grace Carter led the way with seven kills while Havanah John and Hadley Wolfe came in close behind with six kills each. Julia Kupper connected with her fellow Panthers for 17 assists in the match.
The second match of the day saw Wesleyan battle host Indianapolis. The Panthers (0-4, 0-0 G-MAC) were downed by the Greyhounds (2-2, 0-0 GLVC) by a score of 22-25, 14-25, 15-25.
Carter impressed yet again with a season-high nine kills and hit .214. Wolfe also found more success, collecting seven kills and hitting a team-best .368 while connecting often with Kupper as the setter totaled a season-high 21 assists. Defensively, John had four block assists at the net and libero Emily Burgess had 12 digs.
The Panthers next play host to the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational, in which Wesleyan will play two matches on Friday and two on Saturday. The schedule for the Panthers is as follows:
· 9/13 vs. Christian Brothers, 12 p.m.
· 9/13 vs. Illinois Springfield, 7 p.m.
· 9/14 vs. Minnesota State, 12 p.m.
· 9/14 vs. Indianapolis, 6 p.m.
