Crestview Hills, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team was defeated in straight sets against Thomas More on Tuesday night.
In the first G-MAC match of the season, Wesleyan fell 14-25, 13-25, 22-25 to the Saints. The Panthers are now 0-9 (0-1 G-MAC) on the season, still looking for their first set victory.
Gracie Newton and Kamryn Parlin led the Panthers with five kills each, and Julia Kupper had four kills of her own to go with two aces and seven assists. Additionally, Ana De Sevilla-Acosta had a team-high 13 assists while Embry Burgess totaled 12 digs.
The .175- hitting Saints had a similarly balanced attack, as Emily Acito and Syney Hilderbran each had seven kills. Thomas More (5-4, 1-0 G-MAC) also had an impressive 11 aces and nine blocks, with three different players recording three aces each and two different players tallying four blocks each.
Wesleyan continues conference play with consecutive home matches this weekend. First, the Panthers will take on Walsh on Friday, September 20 at 6 P.M., then battle Malone on Saturday, September 21 at 11 A.M.
