Panthers Fall in First G-MAC Home Match of 2024

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team battled to the end but ultimately fell to the Walsh Cavaliers in the Panthers' G-MAC opener on Friday night.

Wesleyan was defeated by a score of 18-25, 11-25, 25-27, with an absolute thriller of a final set to end the match.

The Panthers continued their trend of having a balanced attack on offense this season. Julia Kupper and Havanah John both tallied seven kills, Kamryn Parlin came in right behind them with six, and Tessa-Jo Allen totaled five of her own. Kupper also had 13 assists and two aces, and Ana De Sevilla-Acosta added 10 assists and two aces.

Defensively, Gracie Newton had a team-leading three blocks while Allen and Hadley Wolfe had two each. Allen additionally had a team-high nine digs with Parlin and Sevilla-Acosta not far behind with eight digs each.

For the Cavaliers (4-4, 1-0 G-MAC), Sammie DiBease had a match-high of 15 kills and Jayme Zoeckler had her own match-high of 15 assists. Elizabeth Bauer controlled the net with four blocks and Arora Levengood had 22 digs.

The Panthers must turn the page to their next opponent quickly, as Wesleyan is set to take on Malone tomorrow morning. First serve is set for 11 AM inside Jones Gym.
