INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—Nearly 3,000 student-athletes from around the league were officially named to the 2023-24 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference team, that was released Tuesday afternoon. Kentucky Wesleyan recorded 147 honorees, over one-third of the student-athlete population achieved a 3.3 GPA or higher this academic year.
All member institutions once again contributed to significant numbers across the board. Student-athletes competing in 26 total championship sports were included in this year's list gathered by the Faculty Athletic Representatives and the league's Athletic Communicators Directors.
Many schools saw significant spikes from their academic all-conference team numbers from a year ago, with a total of 10 institutions having over 150 individuals or more receiving the honor.
To be named to the academic all-conference team, the student-athlete's grade point average must be a minimum of 3.3 based on a 4.0 scale. The GPA shall be cumulative for the student-athlete's entire collegiate career to date and the student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution. Student-athlete's GPA's reported by each institution were reflected through the spring semester.
