HILLSDALE, MI - It wasn't Wesleyan's day on Saturday, as they fell 6-3 and 14-0 to the Hillsdale Chargers.
Hillsdale improves to 18-25 (12-14 G-MAC), while Wesleyan drops to 14-27 (12-12 G-MAC).
The opener saw Hillsdale take a 6-0 lead before the Panthers used a big home run from
Braden Vinyard and a run from
Kyle Werries to cut the lead in half in the sixth. That was as close as Wesleyan got, as the Chargers closed it out with a big double play in the top of the ninth.
In the second game, the Panthers mustered up just two hits, compared to 13 for the home side. Hillsdale pulled away with 10 runs over the final two innings to win the day.
On the day,
Kyle Werries was 2-for-5 with a run scored, while
Braden Vinyard notched two RBI's and a run.
Nick Judd (2-4) struck out five in the game one loss, while
Evan Oakley (2-6) fanned nine in game two.
With a spot in the G-MAC tournament hanging in the balance, the Panthers will look to rebound tomorrow against the Chargers. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
