Panthers drop two on Friday

SAINT LEO, FL - The #14 Saint Leo Lions took down the Panthers 13-2 and 8-5 on Friday. The Panthers attempted a comeback in the second game, scoring all five of their runs in the top of the seventh.

Saint Leo improves to 16-2, while Wesleyan falls to 1-14.

Game One

Just like yesterday, the Lions jumped on the Panthers early and often. They scored nine runs in the first two games to put Wesleyan away early. The Panthers scored their two runs thanks to back-to-back RBI walks from Myles Pallister and Noah Davis in the fourth.

Kyle LaVanchy led the Panthers by going 2-for-3 in the game. Josh Tucker (0-2) took the loss.

Game Two

The second contest was close early, as the teams were scoreless after two. The Lions used an RBI single in the bottom of the third to plate the first run of the game, then scored seven runs over the next two innings to make it 8-0 after five.

The Panthers attempted to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh. A Noah Davis walk started the inning, and that was followed with hit by pitches from both Rowan Teran and Ryan Trokey. TJ Williams then walked home Wesleyan's first run, and the bases were loaded with no outs. Nick Wimber hit an RBI, and Tate VanHooser followed that up with a moster blast to left field, making it just a three-run game. Saint Leo managed to get a late strikeout to seal the win.

Tate VanHooser was on fire all game, going 3-for-4 with three RBI's and a run scored. Despite only allowing two earned runs, Brayden Bush (0-2) took the loss.

The Panthers will wrap up their series with Saint Leo tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT.
