Panthers Beat Panthers

Owensboro, KY – The Kentucky Wesleyan Women's Basketball team (20-5, GMAC 15-4) took down the Panthers of Ohio Dominican (7-20, GMAC 4-15) on Thursday evening 75-54. Sydnee Richetto continued her hot streak, finishing with 18 points and 6 rebounds.

The Purple Panthers were on FIRE from beyond the arc to begin the contest, going 7/11 in the first quarter. Wesleyan's first five baskets were all triples coming off the hands of five different players: Corina Conley, Jordyn Barga, Myah Montgomery, Shiya Hoosier, and Richetto. Hoosier scored five more points in the last two minutes of the quarter to make it a 12-point KWC lead.

Jordan Gillies opened up the second quarter with a three-ball of her own. Her bucket capped off a 9-0 run that began at the end of the first. Another Richetto triple off the feed from Hoosier gave Wesleyan their biggest lead of the first half as they led 40-22 with 3:24 remaining.

Richetto scored five more points, including another three-pointer, to get the Purple Panthers started in the second half. Hoosier, Gillies, and Shaylee McDonald got some points in the paint midway through the third. Emmy Ralph drilled a three with under a minute left to make it a 23-point game.

Gillies' layup with 8:21 left in the game gave the Purple Panthers their biggest lead of the night at 27 points. Richetto sealed her big night off with her fourth triple of the night with just under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Hoosier scored 12 points on the night on 83% shooting. Gillies and Ralph added nine points each. McDonald dished out five assists.

Wesleyan will be right back here again at the Sportscenter on Saturday for Senior Day festivities as they take on Trevecca Nazarene University at 12 p.m.
