OWENSBORO, KY - Wesleyan couldn't hold on to a slim 1-0 lead against Purdue-Northwest on Sunday, as four late runs by the Pride gave the visitors a 4-1 win.
PNW improves to 3-1 while Wesleyan fall to 1-10.
In the second inning,
Nick Wimber hit an RBI double to score
Braxton French, giving Wesleyan a 1-0 lead. The middle innings were uneventful, before Purdue Northwest scored three runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth to break the game open. The Panthers loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't plate a run, falling by three.
Josh Tucker (0-1) struck out three in the loss.
Nick Wimber and
Braden Vinyard each finished with two hits.
The Panthers won't be home for a while, as next week they travel to Florida to take on Florida Southern and Saint Leo. First pitch of their opener at Florida Southern is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Monday, March 4th. Wesleyan opens conference play at Malone on the weekend of March 16-17, and their first home G-MAC series will take place against Northwood on the weekend of March 23-24.
