Wesleyan Logs Eighth Win in a Row

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team (8-2, 2-0 G-MAC) earned their eight consecutive win with an 89-51 victory over East-West University on Thursday night inside the Owensboro Sportscenter.

Wesleyan got off to a fast start, beginning the game with a 22-8 run highlighted by two Edward Jones Jr. dunks. The Phantoms fought back into it, going on a 14-6 run of their own to cut the deficit to 6 at 28-22.

That was as close as the road team would get. The Panthers capped off the first half with a Logan McIntire three, one of four in the game for the junior guard, and went to the break with a 47-36 advantage.

Coming out, Wesleyan continued to build on their lead. The Panthers led by 18 headed into the under-16 media timeout after another three by McIntire and maintained that steady advantage up to the under-eight media timeout.

The Panthers then continued to build an even larger lead, as Alex Tsynkevich scored his first bucket of the year followed by a Gavin Reed layup to put Wesleyan up 31, and the home team closed out their eighth straight triumph in front of a lively Panthers crowd.

McIntire continued his impressively efficient season thus far, shooting 8-12 overall and 4-6 from three-point range on his way to a 24-point, six-rebound night while adding two steals and a block.

Quentin Toles stuffed the stat sheet as well, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists with a 7-8 performance from the charity stripe. Kennedy Miles had a season-high nine assists to go along with 11 points and six rebounds, and Edward Jones Jr. was the fourth double-digit scorer for the Panthers with 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Wesleyan next heads to Bowling Green, Kentucky, for an exhibition affair with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday, December 21 at 2:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at wkusports.com and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
