Antonio Garcia Inducted Into National Small College Basketball Hall of Fame

LAKELAND, Fla. - Antonio Garcia, Kentucky Wesleyan's 1999 Consensus NCAA Division II Basketball Player of the Year, was inducted into the National Small College Basketball Hall of Fame last weekend.

Garcia, a 6-foot-8, 252-pound center from Panama City, Panama, Central America, led the Panthers to a national runner-up finish in 1998 (30-3) and their seventh NCAA Championship in 1999 with a record setting 35-2 mark.

He became only one of three players in NCAA Division Championship Game history to be named CBS Sports/Chevrolet NCAA Championship Player of the Game twice in 1998 and 1999.

The two-time Consensus first-team All-American and NCAA Rebounding Champion (1998, 1999) collected 1,125 points (16.1), a third-best 997 rebounds, 264 assists (3.8), 47 blocks, and a ninth-best 129 steals (1.8) in 70 consecutive starts across two seasons.

Garcia holds the KWC career records in field goal percentage (.609) and rebound average (14.2).

His accolades also include voted by fans to the Kentucky Wesleyan All-Century Team, twice selected Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year (1998, 1999), and participation in the 1999 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) East-West All-Star at the Final Four.

Garcia marks the fourth Panther to be inducted, joining George Tinsley (2017), Dallas Thornton (2020) and Corey Crowder (2020).
